Art Practices
Sydney Schmidt is a multimedia artist working in ceramic, digital and analog photography, installation, painting and drawing. Originally from Decatur, Georgia, the artist currently lives in Arvada, Colorado. Her goal upon graduating from the University of Colorado Denver with a Bachelor of Fine Arts is to pursue a Master’s Degree in Photography to further her creative research in sculpture and photography.
As of late, she has primarily been attracted to photographic processes and combining imagery with found discarded technology. Her thesis work critiques the waste generated by the continual advancements in technology and how these objects contribute to the global environmental crisis. Her work has been shown regionally at Emmanuel Art Gallery, Pirate Contemporary Art, and Four Mile Historic Park all located in Denver, Colorado. Sydney’s commission work and employment as commercial, tourist, and portrait photographer allow her to balance and maintain creative, commercial, and fine art practices.
